"Every day, parents and their kids ask us for ideas on what kinds of businesses kids can start and run. Believe it or not, there are plenty of businesses that kids as young as 8 or 9 years old can start and make money at! Running a lemonade stand for a few hours is a great experience. However, there are so many more ways for a kid to not only gain valuable exposure to the business world, but to earn some extra money as well.

We hope our book, How Any Kid Can Start a Business, will give any kid with an interest in becoming an entrepreneur an enjoyable head start and guide to launching an age-appropriate business." - Mark, Shaan and Ian

How Any Kid Can Start a Business eBook Mark Cuban Shaan Patel Ian McCue

After "flipping" (for two hours) through this book, my kids (9, 7, 6) started pulling our cardboard boxes and making signs for their "lemonade stand". They also started thinking and analyzing how many people pass by hour house on a daily basis, and if at least half of them bought the water bottles, how much "profit" they would rake in.

As a parent, I don't want to raise men with a mindset for a 9-5 job but rather offer a wide array of opportunities for their futures, and IF they choose the 9-5 job, at least they knew what their options were.

How Any Kid Can Start a Business eBook Mark Cuban Shaan Patel Ian McCue Reviews

Bought this book for my 9 year old grandson. He has some good ideas and this will help him realize the steps involved to formalize them into a functioning business. He will also learn first hand that being an Entrepreneur like some family members, is not easy.
Cute book for kids. Would like to have seen references of where the adults can go to find out about tax implications and more ideas for different age groups. I do think that this will get their brain juices flowing!
I got this for my 7 year old granddaughter who had never really thought of the concepts, but when she read it, she took off! She has big plans, which her homeschooling mom plans to support her in carrying out. Putting these concepts in the minds of children early is a wonderful idea, that they can later build on as they learn.
This book released just in time for my son's tenth birthday. The large pages are filled with gorgeous illustration and clear writing, and he loves it! I would recommend this book to anyone who wants their kid to get excited (and knowledgeable) about starting a business!
As an elementary school teacher, this book is a MUST! In addition to teaching reading, writing, and arithmetic, we are tasked with teaching 21st Century Skills creativity, grit, collaboration, etc. This book does exactly that! It offers a kid-friendly, accessible, step-by-step approach to becoming your own Mark Zuckerberg or Mark Cuban. Most books on this topic are meant for adults, but this one includes diagrams, pictures, interactive activities, and kid interviews. I will be ordering a class set for my students so they can all learn to become entrepreneurs!
No one is born knowing how to run a business. Skills like identifying business opportunities, product placement, and pricing strategies take time to develop. But the earlier in life you start developing these skills the better. The book does a great job of trying to do just that for kids! My daughter (11) felt inspired by the other kids her age making money and pursuing businesses, and got some great ideas on how to get involved from the tutorials inside. She's working on her next venture now, one step closer to being a millionaire! Highly recommend
Kid Start Up is informative, easy to follow and packed with useful info that even adult entrepreneurs can utilize (leveraging social media, the right way to build a site, how to make an effective flyer etc).

The book has a really conversational tone, so kids can actually get through it without dozing off, but the lessons they convey are pretty prophetic for all of us. Here are some examples

1. Hustle. Stop expecting hand outs. Do the work.
2. Just start. Stop with the 200 page business plans. Get your hands dirty and dive in.
3. Be obsessed with your goals. Casually wanting something isn't enough.

Honestly, a lot of adults I know need to be slapped over the head with this book. Our kids loved it too and have plans to launch their next business.
